Double Standards at Olympics?

So it is acceptable to smoke a forbidden substance, then apologize, you will remain!
"The International Olympic Committee expressed confidence Monday that Phelps will learn from his "inappropriate behavior" and continue to serve as a role model.
"Michael Phelps is a great Olympic champion," the IOC said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press.
"He apologized for his inappropriate behavior. We have no reason to doubt his sincerity and his commitment to continue to act as a role model."
On the other hand it is not acceptable to have an exuberant fan overeact, and even if you apologize ..you'll be ejected!
According to some media he WAS ejected, he did NOT voluntarily leave Vancouver!
On the one hand swimmers are 'clean' people!
On the other hand snowboarders apparently not. From the various media reports we can glean:
"And Lago was representing his country in the best fashion possible: showing off the spoils of his hard work, allowing strangers to bask in the glory of an Olympic medal, enjoying life when it’s at its finest. While the photograph may have been in poor taste – a woman kissed the medal while Lago held it below his belt – by no means did it merit the sort of treatment he received" Following the TMZ.com article and pictures, one comment read " It's insane, he is a snowboarder for ... sake, give him some slack!"
Ah well, it would not be this world without some 'hot' topic, political or otherwise , LOL.
