GOALS, GOALS, GOALS

Aeros win over Griffins 3:2!!!
Goals by 'Zippy' Zingoni, who also was named Nr. 1 Star; Second goal by Kalus, the 'Avalanche', with Almond'Joy', third goal by Almond'Joy', garnering the Nr.2 Star with help from 'King' Duncan Milroy and 'Speedy' Di Salvatore. While 'Brusty' in goal made 20 saves and 3.Star. Go Aeros! Strangely, 'The Scrapper' Daoust has not been placed where he can score! Why that is I have NO idea. He did rather well before when given lots of icetime. Is he being relegated to the 4. or 5. line, now that almost all scorers except for 'Handy Andy' Hilbert are back on ice and getting their limelight spots?

And 'Dimples' Khudobin saved 38 of 39 for the Wild helping them win 2:1 over the Flyers! 1. Goal by Cal Clutterbuck (Ms. C will be elated), 2. by Nolan with Belanger and Johnson.

On to the Stars vs Rivermen game tonight before 5,430 fans.
Rivermen started out with Toivonen in goal, but in the 3. Ben Bishop came out, did THE stretch, but even that did not help Peoria WITH N0 goals BUT an incredible number of Shots on Goal 40, let me say it again: 40! Matt Climie for the Stars stopped them all to win a shut out...making him the Nr. 1 Star of the game.

Just 5 seconds into the game Nr. 26 , Beaudoin, yes, 'soft spot Nr. 25 of year past' scored the lead goal, getting Nr. 2 Star in the bargain, with help of McCulloch and Morin. Almost fresh out of the locker room Wathier and Reaves got into it..sitting 5 minutes for fighting, an action these two repeated in the 2. period with same results. To the loudest acclaim by vocal fans, I've heard in a while!
Morin (the Nr. 3 star), with McCulloch and Beaudoin scored goal 2 at 5:04 in 2. period, followed by goal 3 by Korostin with Jancevski and Sceviour, and at 16:40 Tousignant with Sceviour made it 4. and Sawada with Gazdic got Nr. 5 in the third at 10:37.
Having Referee Jeff Smith officiating meant many penalties uncalled, or penalties called when they ought not. Peoria came out hard and greedy and 40 SoG's do testify to their pace. Stars repaid anything Rivermen threw at them suavely and despite having just 10 or SoG did make 5 of them COUNT.
On an aside, I managed to slap hand/glove with Love (;-) Wow, and exchange a word or may be it was three (WOW double :-) with Soft Spot.
My seat at glass level! was very close to the Stars' entry and exit.. which was used by both team after the warm up - thus the slap with Love, the words with Soft Spot
;-), who just looks as he did when here! Something, eh?
TOO MUCH SOMETHING, CONSIDERING HE IS TEH ENEMY NOW!
But not conducive to getting good shots..too many heads (fans and photographers parading to and fro) in the aisle just below, too many stanchions, too much smudgy glass. I believe I got a few worth posting, after my return.
AND I STILL HATE Austin highways and byways, the same ones having several names makes for erratic driving, especially at night! Not even the 'slap with' Love and 'words with' Beaudoin make up for THAT driving nightmare :-).

WE have an ending to "Mystery of Helmet Nr. 25"! Mathieu Beaudoin FINALLY signed it in gold with a smudge proof (devoutly hope so) pen, thanks to the invaluable help of the Stars' PR guy Josh Fisher. In my mind he is a BIG fish (well, not as big as CLIMIE was tonight, for instance-LOL) in the Cedar Park Center Pond, but THANKS, to 'another' JOSH for big help.

Khudobin,s outing tonight just reconfirms that he is ready, willing, and able for outperformance at the NHL level. After passing his (baptism by fire) test 2 nights ago with aplomb, Anton followed with a fine performance against a very good Flyer team. At age 23, a very promising NHL career lies ahead.

The Aeros win against Grand Rapids, backstopped by an emerging and vibrant Barry Brust, gives serious Aeros fans hope that there is still a chance to capture the final playoff spot in the Western Division; however, this will happen only if either Rockford or Chicago slides over the final 35 regular season games (including head-to-head games with the Aeros.

Go Aeros!
