Open Season on Goalies?

Sure looked like it in the third period. Anton 'Dimples' Khudobin on his first outing with the Aeros got run into, was smashed into his net, dislodging it, too, at least thrice, but no penalty called by Pelletier, again. We are used to his calls, or rather no calls, from past experiences.
A new Nr. 25 took to the ice this night and the 'circus' got off to good start.
Yes, Tony Hrkac is an Aeros again, quite as agile and quick on the draw ...getting pucks out of danger zone, which, alas, Cody Almond was not able to do as well tonight.
After about 6 minutes play Gillies and Irmen got goal 1. Several penalties on Aeros, in the 1. and also in the 2. plus two on Rampage, Spina and Turris made it even and ON a power play. Aeros 1 with 7 Rampage 1 with 8 SoG.
Daoust appeared a couple times as the filling of a "Rampage Sandwich", and he and Milroy were hit on without any penalties called, other AEROS penalties: Delay of Game, tripping, roughing, holding, hooking, roughing. Now that one on Noreau was a miscall, IMO, on the replay it was rather obvious Max was being a punching bag.
Yes, a Rampage (Hoggan ?) got called for slashing. Seemed to me that it was Heshka Nr. 26 Rampage who did the roughing on Noreau.
In the 3. Fraser with DiSalvatore and Milroy got a power play goal, Nr. 2. They seemed fired up and followed it shortly thereafter with goal Nr.3 by Noreau, Testwuide and DiSalvatore.
Rampage Morgan was escorted out with help after a collision near the glass. No idea how serious.

Spina, Turris and Sullivan got goal Nr. 2 on a rebound, and about 2 minutes later and having pulled goalie Tordjman, Meyer and Turris made it 3 Aeros:3 Rampage, and so it went into Overtime with Aeros 3/25, Rampage 3/32. No goal by either team and so it went to a ShootOut.
Boedker-Goal, DiSalvatore-0, Turris-Goal, Daoust-0, Sharp-0, Rau-0, Spina-0, Hrkac-0
and so it ended: Rampage win over Aeros in a Shoot out 4-3.
Which assured the audience of receiving Chick Filet coupons LOL.
Better Half's lunch is now covered for tomorrow ...

The three Stars: Nr.1 Turris, Nr.2 Meyer and Nr. 3 Aeros Fraser.
Aeros lost steam in the third, although both 1. and 2. periods showed some spirit.
Several Aeros were unable to get the puck into the opponents zone, among them such good players as Almond, Noreau. Rau and Smith got most of the face offs. Gunderson and Fraser did some impressive 'body blocking', Anton had some spectacular saves, holding off 29 shots on goal in regulation.ONLY once did the ref actually call a Rampage for elbowing and for all of 2 minutes!
Both teams got one pp goal, other pp opportunties were not converted into goals.
Interestingly, Anton was pulled at end of 1. While Rampage pulled theirs at end of 3. Twice goalies skated to bench in protest of something the ref did or, most likely, did not call.

Amusingly, during the 2. intermission they showed a video of TBone entering an elevator with a Aeros Jersey wearing man, doors shut, loud crashing noise ensues, doors open to reveal a victorious TBone, and all that to dramatic operatic music .....what can I say-opera and hockey HAVE a lot in common ;-)!
Better Half's name flashed across the screen...to no acclaim, while the names of supporting companies and persons roused the 6459 fans (ON A WEDNESDAY, yet!) to loud applause and screams.
as far as I could see, there were (including mine) 5 Aeros emblemed Jerseys, T shirts plus one Wild Jersey in the audience.
Surprisingly, nowhere near the same number of home team jerseys as in Houston, were visible, most came in mufti, albeit less revealingly tight ;-).
An interesting game, for all of one and a half periods we hoped and feted... but it was not to be. Aeros sliding ever more downward, methinks, they are now BEHIND Rampage in 5. place just ahead of last placed Peoria, and what Better Half thinks I better not post at all! pics to follow after return to Houston and BEFORE March 5.
