In the face of ....

So, animal lovers (?) are out in force again, protesting against Los Toros in the wake of a P.O.V. report on PBS about toreras.

I am in awe, that these girls/women DARE to invade the terrain dominated by men. Equality of the sexes is slowly invading the world of the corrida, but will it take or fade away under the relentless pressure of the Male Chauvinists of the world coupled with the indignant protestations of people who have not the least clue about the culture that spawned la Corrida and its history and meaning?

Cretan fresco, showing boys and girls 'jumping' the bull, possibly as religious rite in the 'admiration of Mithridates'.

Why is it, that those same 'lovers' avidly attend boxing or wrestling matches, cheering when a boxer hits hard enough to 'rearrange' his opponents brain?
Are addicted to watching blood and gore (however simulated) in movies and crime scene shows?
Watch the human collisions in football and rugby, which have left many 'athletes' lamed or damaged permanently.
Accept athletes who did unspeakable things to humans, and more, back into the fold..with the excuse: "Ah he/she just did not know any better, so young, so cocky, so needed on the field or the ice!" Pah!
Get hot under the collar about soccer, pummeling fans (?) of the OTHER Club till blood spurts.
Thrill to the sight of cars with drivers burst into flames?
Watch JAWS and other grisly monster movies that end in death or dismemberment?
Jump for joy at those often "staged"(to please those blood thirsty fans) icehockey fights leaving some injured in the wake, the least injury a rearranged bloody nose, the worst, brain damage and consecutive death?

Those same 'lovers' set fire to homes, kill people who DARE to do research to discover cures for humans, while using animals. If they are so against that, why not volunteer to be human guinea pigs, to benefit their human 'friends' in fighting off diseases? PAH!

Or enjoy humiliating people because they are different, handicapped, heavy, etc. Oh, yes that is acceptable, no blood, even though it hurts as much or even more, but no visible wounds!

Oh yes, all those are totally acceptable to those 'bleeding heart lovers'.

But talk about the primal competition between a lone human being, no padding, no protection, just a piece of cloth, at the end a sword, and an huge animal (at Corridas de Toros 4-5 year old bulls weighing tons, in Novilladas the bulls are younger, smaller, lighter-usually.. but I have seen one or two where the bulls were rejects and gigantic - towering hugely over the young novilleros- age 14-16) with wicked horns and extraordinary speed whose hump muscle (morillo) is powerful enough to toss a car into the air-AND out come the tears and protestations.
BRAVA Matadoras, OLE Matadoras..

you gals have more guts and heart than so many a man!
Go for it! Show them!
