Georg Kreisler,Satire, Diaries, Memories,all B.C.

Orwellian thoughts!
Looking through an old box I came across some almost forgotten records
(yes, those round black disc -the 45s with the hole)
among them Georg Kreisler with his utterly black humor songs.
Listening to this Austrian born satirist/cabaret artist,  singing about your freedom and my freedom.
Which really are two different things ;-)!

Orwellian: everything will be regulated, forbidden, censored, unacceptable!
Such as, possibly, this song by Kreisler, which really is NOT for sensitive/fastidious listeners.
It is the blackest satire imagineable.
Seems to me, even then, when he composed/wrote this, he sensed the growing loss of empathy in the world.
In his masterly satiric way he adresses the woes of persecution of - just about - everything!
A NIMBY, biased, xenophobic, and full of 'gadzillion' other phobes kind of message.
As deeply disturbing, as deeply provoking!
IF we can really listen and perhaps, act on it!

Listen! And read the so-so translation.
What is he really singing about?
Using absurdity to force a stop to depravities?
Using Galgenhumor to denounce hatred of others!
Listen again!
Unfortunately, most of his songs are in German.
Except this one below, which is a lot less morbid.

Really, his best are in German!

An old diary also tumbled out of that disintegrating box.
Amusing to read the volatile outpourings of the much younger me.
Even then words just poured forth, simpler words,
but perhaps more deeply felt and honestly expressed, without the 'muzzling'
(Beware sensitive viewers, readers, etc.. you know what I mean).
In night long sessions world fate was debated heatedly.
In our 'innocence', we just knew how to solve all problems.
Oh, those hopeful times.
Reading those long forgotten entries, brought back such wonderful memories.

But also of truly poorly composed poems :-).
Bah, humbug!
Home after School then!

Of course, the "NEWS" were not available instanter via
YouTube or cellphone cameras.

A 'Brauner' and the Papers
One waited for the telephone call to tell all!
Voice to voice that is!

Or went to the Kaffeehaus to read the all latest papers from around the world.

Or met face to face to talk,  actually talk,  about it all.
Or had to wait for the TV evening news or Radio station break news.
Antediluvian, eh, you youngsters out there!

B.C. that was....before computers, that is!
