The GOOD fight continues..Aeros 5 vs Rampage 2

Military appreciation night was graced by a brief appearance of former President and Barbara Bush among the est. 13 000 plus visitors in and out of uniform.

The first period saw the first Aeros goal at about 11:31 by Zingoni, #19 with Noreau # 26 and DiSalvatore # 14 credited for the assist : the 1st power play goal for the Aeros.
"Love" ;-) incarnation Matt Kassian # 42 won his first fight with Rampage's #44 Lessard. Later Falk #44 and Bodie #20 Rampage had at it and sat for roughing. Smith # 8 got a double minor, and McMillan #27 a minor for slicing, while Rampage's # 23 Porter also received a minor, with just a few seconds to end of 1st period.

The second period started with Aeros 13 SOG and Rampage 4. Rampage really cranked up the speed and while Hogan # 22 Rampage sat out a minor, and Smith sat out his double minor, Chad Rau=WOW # 20 got a short handed goal assisted by Irmen, #19 at 1:47. At 4:21 Robbie Earl #17 scored putting Aeros up to 3 goals, assisted by toner #7 and Sifers #24.

Penalties were called on Stoner #7 and Rampage #20 Bodie. Rampage #44 Lessard also sat for interference. With just 2:48 minutes to go, Rampage's Correction: May #7, assisted by Thikonov & #91 Turris got goal Nr. 1.
Within less than 2 minutes, Rampage made their 2. goal by Mc Lean # 19 with Perrault #4.
Aeros seemed a bit lax during a 3-4 minute section of the 2. period, which ended with 22 SOG/3 goals by Aeros, vs. 14 SOG/2 gaols by the Rampage. Both teams played extremely physical at a furious pace.
4:42 minutes into The third period, Kassian faced off once more against Bodie. Belensky, Rampage # 9 also went to the box for slicing. Aeros could not convert the PP this time. But shortly thereafter DiSalvatore #14 with assist by Earl #17 and Rau=WOW #20 sent Aeros ahead with goal Nr.4. And Petr Kalus #32 with the help of McMillan #47 at 14:45 scored his first goal making it Aeros 5 and Rampage 2. And the Aeros were able to hang onto those numbers. Despite the fact that Kalus and Zimmerman (Rampage # 8) got into a fight with Kalus victorious to assorted yelling and screaming of the roused audience.
Irmen #19 sat for hooking and with a second to go Kassian# 42 and Ryan Hollweg Rampage # 11 were penalized 5 minutes for fighting.
Rampage goalie Tordjman wore sweater Nr. 38 instead of the listed Nr. 37 which threw me off for a bit, looking at the game from the Aeros' side in period one.
Scratches for Aeros: Fraser, Almond, Hilbert. Milroy and Lannon.
Rampage scratches: Meyer #10, Long #16, Spina #17, Mitera #21 and Donally #28

STARS OF THE GAME: #1 EARL, #2 DISALVATORE and # 3 RAU=WOW.

The Scrapper, Daoust , was in evidence but with less icetime. Smith, Gunderson, Gillies, Falk went all out while Testwuide, and Rogers played well. Kalus' speed was impressive, Daoust managed to "skate under arms " of several opponents. Overall it seemed to me , that Aeros skated well in 1. and 3. While Rampage took a bit longer to warm up and catch up with shooting at goal, especially in 2. and 3. periods.

The game ended with AEROS 5 (28 SOG) Rampage 2 (26 SOG).
