Split personality. Liking the arts, especially opera, and hockey and Los Toros. I know, I know THAT one is non pc currently. But I can't help it saw some in Spain and got hooked, but good.
But on the other hand right now opera and hockey are in the forefront!
Noreau and Constantine in Switzerland!
Nolan Schaefer as well.
And as Nolan's great grandparents -so it is said were Swiss who emigrated to Canada, the possibility that Schaefer will get Swiss passport is pretty good, especially since the Swiss will not allow more than 4 foreign players on a team. http://sport.rsi.ch/home/channels/sport/sport_on_line/2011/09/26--Schaefer-felice-di-essere-in-Sv

Carson McMillan with his OT goal to put Aeros up by 1 over Admirals tonight.
Celebration
DiSalvatore high Fiving
The puck rebounds-Smith better look between his legs for it
It was the REAL AEROS, the team of Round One, yes, that team that swept Peoria off the pages of the AHL, that came out skating like chased by the devil(does he have the name Yeo,perhaps?), shooting furiously, attacking, fore checking and stealing pucks, snatching pucks from right in front of Hacketts net more times on rebounds, and keeping the Ads mostly inside their zone.
Despite the addition of Ryan Ellis, the Ads just could not get to the Aeros net enough.. only 13 SoGs.
There was THAT one time early in the OT, that almost made my heart stop... but at the last second the puck was fished away and shot down the ice (was it Gillies?)- if it was he reacted so fast and saved his goalie!
I have to admire Jeremy Smith's truly heroic efforts to stop the Aeros Juggernaut of 33 SoGs - but it just wasn't enough. And I could tell he was mad at himself and/or ?? to allow McMillan to get the winning goal skating off as fast as he could:
Good Bye Jeremy, until the next time!
Aeros went on the board with two goals in the First, a very effective G.O.P. line got the First goal less than 2 minutes into the game.
Followed at half point with the PP goal by O'Sullivan, Rau, Noreau (who I may add was with us -it this evening) and the photos above show the aftermath of that goal (I missed Goal Nr. One - it just happened soo fast). Thuresson (that pesky Admiral) made it 2-1 and the period was over.
Rau 'laced up'
The second saw some scrimmages, some interlaced skates, some heavy hitting on Ortmeyer, some good and fast reactions by Bulmer, Gillies and Spurgeon and others.
And the evener goal by Johnson Aeros 2 - Ads 2... and so it went.
No goals by either side in the Third.
But a fabulous play towards the end of that period by Earl.
Goal by Johnson-Ads catch up
Smith really went out of his net so many times it still amazes me that the Aeros were unable to utilize his absence and score.
Guess he was just too athletic and so quick...here are a few of his saves:
Goalie Bagnell helping out while Hackett chases pucks?
A Conga Line amyone?
Not it is not a puck -. just Jeremy Smith playing house in his net!
It's balloon, it;s a UFO ? it's just a puck gone sailing!
About 3 minutes into OT McMillan led the Aeros to victory with the help by Palmer and Noreau (as I said he was present again, our Max was).
Aeros win in OT ..4-3. vs Syracuse Crunch and Rampage win over Abbotsford 4-2. Aeros -50 games played- and Rampage -48 games played - are tied with 58 points.
Montoya & Beaudoin (Jerina Photo)
Beaudoin added to AHL All Star Roster( he'll skate in West with Noreau versus Locke in East - FYI :-)
"The American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that San Antonio Rampage right wing Mathieu Beaudoin has been added to the roster to represent the Western Conference Team at the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic. Beaudoin will replace Rampage defenseman Garrett Stafford, who is unable to attend due to an injury.
Beaudoin, 26, has notched 32 points (14 goals, 18 assists) in 30 games for San Antonio this season, including a team-best four game-winning goals.
This is Beaudoin’s first All-Star selection as he joins teammate Brett MacLean to represent the Rampage.
It is the fifth time in franchise history that a replacement has been named to represent the Rampage at the mid-season classic. AHL All-Star Skills Competition is on Sunday, Jan. 20 (2 p.m. CDT) and the AHL All-Star Game on Monday, Jan. 31 (6 p.m. CDT). The All-Star Game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest."
In the West: Peoria and Admirals are also tied with 55 points! Aeros are now tied with Oklahoma City with 54 points!
Beaudoin
Rampage trails with 53 points after a big comeback tonight (meant to write that Beaudoin, after being out for weeks, came back on the ice AND scored one goal of the many - just for all those loyal fans still following Beaudoin) Stars and Wolves tied with 52. Icehogs with 43 points still firmly last!
Unbelievable how tight this race is!
And without further ado:
Mr Hockey drops first Puck
Let the game begin
Stars goal first
BUT Hackett saves the rest
After the Wellman Goal
IMHO both goalies did well, with the bigger share of spectacular saves going to Hackett, back in hisWundergoalie reincarnation.
It was quite an eventful game.
Stars gave chase, passed well. Pounded the net of Hackett.
But Aeros were flying from one end of the rink to the other, skirmishing, stealing pucks and digging for it everywhere. Inserting and excerting themselves between the Black clad Stars. And catching up the Stars by shots on goal.
Stars' followers were few, their usual screamed 'STARS
during the anthem sounded rather puny, for a change.
O'Sullivan and DiSalvatore after the empty netter
A bunch of Real Happy Campers
To some hot headed and fiery hearted fans, there was ONLY one fight, and one that was rather un- impressive, between Sawada of the Stars- clearly the winner - and Palmer of the Aeros. And not much of slamming against the glass either. So the fans' sound level seemed much reduced. But - ah well I shall NOT go there!
"Unexplained" is the fact that when ever I do NOT wear an Aeros Jersey, the guys win! Yes, really. Of course I am NOT superstitious. Not me, oh no! But they do win when I wear one of my others!
And so they did, after 3 periods of fluid motions and 1 goal each. I still can't wrap my eyes and mind around the saves by Hackett, using all he got. Eyes behind the head maybe? You all saw that one: Reaching back and plucking the puck out of the air-SAVED again!
Feet, legs, pads, body... all used to make save after save!
Actually I thought that empty netter was due earlier - but Bachman, hurriedly putting on the brakes to skate backwards to the net, and his defense guys did an admittedly super job getting the puck away from the net. Only to have one slapped into it, after all that exertion, by Di Salvatore from O'Sullivan just seconds after Bachman, again, scooted towards the bench in favor of 6th Star.
BTW for Beaudoin fans: he's back on ice, and he gets one of the goals tonight.
So, someone does not like us to sleep peacefully to 7 AM. Or maybe it is something that does not like us. A robotic call morning after morning..three rings, it stops. Ah, we're ready to turn over and ...three rings, it stops. 'and again..finally, jump' out of bed, rip the cord from the wall ..so there! If you call again, it won't wake us now! So there! Naturally, after all that, can't sink back into Morpheus arms. Might as well get up. Ah, Coffee, lovely, black and strong...what is the phrase people use ' a spoon can stand straight' ? A plop - the paper is here already, full of 'good' news..uprisings, Tiger Wood's back, another earthquake, governments at collapse, long term unemployment holding steady, hospital closing, teenage unemployment rising, unpaid internships denied, Maestro Levin's health and contract issues, and the list goes on. Ah, a spark of joy...
Houston to get a soccer stadium! Let's paint it orange! To go with their jerseys! Ah, sports, what ever would we do without them? Go to more operas, theaters and concerts. ;-)!!!
Meanwhile over at T3I, a discussion rages about the missed penalty shot, that was not award to Irmen. Could it really have rallied the 'old' new Aeros? Could it have made that difference and led them to OT? And with some real luck to a win or at least a point? All academic now - it was not awarded, no shots were fired, no goals were made and no points received. Noreau FINALLY called up to the Wild! Well he deserved it, IMO, before some of the others that were called and returned. What's ahead for the Aeros: tonight Rampage at SA, Saturday Stars in Houston, and Sunday again Rampage in SA. And so it will end...on a sad note. And the Hockey diaspora begins ..
