Icehogs win in Overtime 2 - 1 Aeros.
First Period
Once again, the only lonely goal for the Aeros came courtesy
"The Scrapper" with Rau-"Wow" and Gunderson. Aeros 1 with 3 SoG Hogs 0 and 6 SoG.
Second period: Icehogs' Greentree with Aliu (who came from Nigeria via Russia with a Russian passport, Duh?) and Kearns. Aeros 1 (9) and Hogs 1 (17). And thus ended period 2.
Period 3: The less said the better. Penalties piling up on both sides, as well as players in front of Aeros net. And Daoust skating off to the bench for some 'towel treatment'..cut lip? or?
Overtime: starts with Aeros 1 and 23 SoG and Hogs 1 with 29 SoG . And Icehogs' Brennan with Greentree and Brophey closed down OT with their goal. Aeros 1 (total SoG 27) Hogs 2 (31 SoG).
Dubie in goal for Aeros stopped 25 (Correction 29 SoG) which earned him the Nr. 3 Star. Nr. 2 was The Scrapper Daoust.
Nr. 1 Star: Icehogs' Brennan with the winning goal. Crawford in net for Hogs stopped 26.
Aeros 'muffed' several great opportunities to score... but...alas. Their penalty kill skills were up to par again, Hogs had 6/0 and Aeros 3/0. But then the best Aeros power play scorer Di Salvatore sat at the tail end of 3. That was one of the confusing calls!
Several scratches due to injuries: Hilbert and Zingoni still out, Sifers out and Brust. McMillan out due to suspension.
Hogs scratched: Carlsson,Skille, Davis and/or Dowell ?
New faces on the Aeros bench:
Trent Campbell as Nr. 21 and Ross Rouleau as Nr. 25 ...(so far no comparison with OUR old Nr. 25 MathieuB ;-).. but it's early times yet and the guyz have to be 'played in' to the strategy of the team and coaches.
WE, the fans, did not like this officiating, the utter confusion at tail end of Period 3...who was penalized for what for how long...finally it got straightened out.
