Woman Hollering - Fans Weeping

that is - Woman Hollering Creek which needs to be crossed just before getting to Schertz, Texas  and for my German readers..that is NO Scherz (no joke, indeed).
per Wikipedia: "The creek's name is probably a loose translation of the Spanish La Llorona, or "The weeping woman". According to legend, a woman who has recently given birth drowns her newborn in the river because the father of the child either does not want it, or leaves with a different woman. The woman then screams in anguish from drowning her child. After her death, her spirit then haunts the location of the drowning and wails in misery. The legend has many different variations and there has even been occasional sightings of the restless woman's spirit. The legend also states that if you get too close to the water, the hollering woman will drag you in, hoping you are her child."
Kind of an appropriate title for this post, what with the Aeros loosing,
what with the Wild loosing as well. :-)!
Nothing more needs to be said.

Schertz town is one of several that prospered around Randolph airforce base near San Antonio, Bexar County:
SCHERTZ

A bit of its history:
The first settlers came to Schertz around 1843. Some of the families on the immediate land surrounding Schertz were the Boettigers, Schertzs*, Schneiders, Seilers, Maske, and Mergele. Members of the Schertz family still reside in the City. The first name of Schertz was "Cibolo Pit," then "Cut Off;" the reason for this name was when the Cibolo Creek flooded, the settlement was cut off
The most famous person from Schertz is alt-country-rocker Steve Earle, who grew up in the town.

In 1988, the half-brother of Osama bin Laden and then patriarch of the bin Laden family, Salem bin Laden, perished in a crash of a light plane in Schertz, described as a "freak accident" by Schertz officials
Fleamarket
Modern Schertz?

A relic from 'golden times'?
