French Canadians strike it lucky, once again! The sole and lonely goal, the saving one, by "The Scrapper" Daoust 55 seconds into Overtime with help of "Ironman" Noreau for which Daoust received 3. Star of the game, and- oh boy, that huge grin visible on his face, lovely!
A good start, & several face off wins by 'The Streak' Smith & Rau-'Wow'.
Now, I am not an expert, but tonight's game was utterly lovely! Not only because the Aeros, finally won, but-because, just because it was a joy to behold marvellous skating by most guys! Both Teams seemed even in strength, even in smooth skating, even in defense (yes defense! by Aeros), even in elegance, even in avoiding fights, even in not slamming hugely into boardsone of the few scramblings for the puck! - a game truly a delight to my eyes, a piece of art almost, a colorful melange swishing down and back on the ice. What an image..beautiful!
That was the end of 6 on 3 PowerPlay (Brustys being pulled briefly), then 5 on 3, PowerPlay for Aeros which, alas, did not result in a goal, the Griffins' defense was simply just too good and their net minder Larsson outstanding in saves!
My neck really got a work out, turning to and turning fro, turning to replays, turning back to the action, quite a night - and a really good crowd, lots of little or bigger girls scouts yelling their little hearts out, especially when voting for Paparazzi by the aptly named Lady Gaga (way too loud, as also the air guitar segment, and the soi disant Blues set which really was more of screeching rap song) thank goodness for earplugs, they made this NOISE tolerable, even if not liked!
Almost at the end of the 3. ..that was the picture.O vs O and so onto Sudden Death 4 on 4 Overtime!
Was it that "Brusty" shaved his beard? Compare this handsome guy to the scruffy looking one of a couple nights ago (see blog). He stopped all SoG by Griffins in regulation, and was Star Nr. 1.
As did Griffin Goalie Larsson,he, too, stopped all shots on goals in regulation, all 34 of them!!! And got 2. Star! Well deserved THAT, IMO. It was simply a Battle of the Goalies! With the help of good defense by both teams ;-)!
Was the game moving almost flawlessly and continuously due to the reasonable calls by the referee, evenly offering PP to both teams, neither of whom took advantage ? Or was it the Doppelgaenger Aeros that appeared tonight on the ice? Whatever the cause, it was lovely night for hockey. Thank YOU Mercury!
