times 3: Aeros
Heat: 1
some scrabbling in front of "Doobie"
this face off NOT by Rau, who did have some great ones.
After a great save by "Doobie"
In front of a smallish crowd of quite a few young and rather vocal fans, Aeros started out swinging - um - skating furiously through the first and second period.
1. goal by Rau-"WOW" (his 19th) with "Irms" Irmen and "Sunny"Fraser, who BTW had a spectacular pass later.
2. goal by "The Streak" Smith with "Frisky" Gillies. Heat had 2 PP opportunities, not capitalized on. Aeros had 1. "MacAttack" McMillan real hard attack on the opponent's goal knocking it off its pins resulted in an interference penalty. Another went to "The Rock" Rogers for tripping (and not the light fantastic).
In the second period the The Heat flamed up enough to get their goal on a PP by Kronwall, Myers and Murray (sounds like a legal firm, eh?). But soon Almond "Joy" with "The Falker" Falk and "Avalanche" Kalus made it AEROS 3.
Some heavy 'cat and mouse' plays ensued, but the score stayed at 3-1."Bucky" Brandon Buck was in evidence and did his share (for his Everblades Fans). Daoust and Kalus seemed to have less ice time a than previously, especially Daoust. Almond"Joy" proved again a tendency to rough stuff (consecutive penalties for roughing AND unsportsmanlike conduct in the early 3.period) which otherwise was rather boring, more cat and mouse plays, some futile rushing to and fro, Aeros expanding just enough effort to keep the 2 goal lead while "Doobie"'s yeoman's work with 30 saves set the win in concrete.
At the end Aeros had 3 goals with 18 SoG, Abbotsford Heat 1 Goal and 31 SoG. Scratches for Aeros: Zingoni, although seen during warm up, Lannon and Gunderson.
"Doobie" Dubielewicz: 1. Star of the game
The other two:
Smith - Nr.2
Rau -Nr. 3.
