The Hockey News: Headlines: Hockey movie 'Goon' to begin shooting in Winnipeg later this week
Should be an interesting addition to the film library on and about hockey, don't you think?

Which reminds me, having read THE CODE (just finished it yesterday) I am rather interested to see how the movie will handle that! Especially now after changes in the rules.
And after the last few terrible incidents when players collapsed, and /or were carted off severely injured?
For details on the current status of NHL players go to
It sure is scary to see how many are on it,
and that some are going back to past incidents.
Hockey Players ARE the toughest, the most committed, the most fearless or so it seems, above all the most prepared, athletes in the world of spectator sports. Real 'Men of Iron' with the gift to react fast with mind and body!
One speeds, zips, streaks over the ice, seeking just the space to scrape through to reach the goal, all the while keeping eyes and ears peeled for 'foes', looking for 'mates' to pass the puck, stopping on a dime to reverse course, zig-zagging to avoid obstacles. It is all that, I think, that attracts many of us to watching hockey. Star Wars' Imperial March just sounds right to me now!
Is the problem really that Players are bigger, taller, stronger, faster? As some suggest!
That perhaps equipment not up to the new speed/power of these players even though seemingly more durable? As some suggest!The comparison springs to mind to the stronger bats and sturdier balls in baseball;
or more powerful rackets wielded by stronger players! Isn't science wonderful?
Making things harder, stronger - and deadlier, in some cases.

While other instances, such as the rescue of the trapped miners in Chile, are made possible precisely thanks to advances in science, advances in medicine, in treatment of stress syndrome, adapting space conditioning to earth conditions!
And that is a good thing!
Amen.
