----my 'beeehind'... off- all for love of hockey. Yep, attended Skills Competition by Aeros.
What a fun thing for the players, and I mean players! Getting to play on ice ..sure they had to compete in various events, but hey, it sure looked like a bunch of happy 'boys' getting to strut their stuff AND in front of appreciative yelling, hooting, cheering fans! And got to see some coaches doing their best - ah, well!
Amazing, "FRISKY" - our intuitively invented pet name of last season for Gillies...is so apt! He was twitching, rushing to and fro all the time and being kinda tall and lanky even WITH the gear..a bit menacing until you see the face..
"BUCKY" (that is Brandon Buck) solemn of face, but hey, when he smiles he lights up as he did when he was rather inventive in his approach (and yes, all legal) to faking out goalie Hackett, the coach favorite, not just once!
"AVALANCHE" Petr Kalus must have had a bad ice day..he was outskated in the speedy event by (I thinbk Prosser, a newby). And "IRONMAN" Noreau (he seems to have matured in looks), was out slapshot - slapshotted??? (His a speedy 92, the other's (just who I could not tell) was a 95!
And Tyler Cuma, another newby was clomping around with a leg brace (cast?) on.
Of "ZIPPY" Zingoni and Earl the "PEARL" I did not get a glimpse, but squinting to read those teensy numbers on helmets I may have missed either!
But there was, unmistakably JM Daoust, "THE SCRAPPER" with this huge happy grin,
and a slimmed down (facially) RAU-"WOW", and aptly "SUNNY" Fraser, as he did quite well in some event.
"MacATTACK", Carson McMillan was there,
and "BOOGIE BABY" (Aaron Boogaard) surprised with his speed.
Afterwards went to cheer on (with chattering teeth and freezing fingers, despite being wrapped up in an Aeros - hotstuff, those autographs by some of the boys - blanket, La Terminadora or Ramba (H.G. complete with Binghamptom Senators' Black sweater) yes, very, very handsome indeed...not only H.G. but the sweater, too!
Not having studied Goalie 101 or 102.. I did recognise her skill in stopping a couple pucks by pads and glove.. well, not at the same time, of course.
And some of the 'leisure league' hockey players (with ponytail and without) seemed rather fast and accurate. Somehow the 'Crosby sweatered' one - shorter by far than the original - appeared to me one of the speedier ones!
Photos to follow, blurry through milky glass, under not so bright lights, and taken with chilled, shaking hands.. but photos nevertheless! You've GOT a thrill coming ha ha ha!
