Aeros Defense still in place! |
Tenor Chapman with Nessun Dorma |
Regretfully, the 'old' Aeros seemed to have made a 'comeback' last night!
By that I mean, pretty passing, wasting PP opportunities, instead of shooting at net.
Some defense, but..
Where, oh where, was an Aeros when his team went on the offense?
Not in front of Climie to - just maybe - sneak the puck in, on one of those pretty passes!
I fully expected to see Tordjman (in sweater Nr. 41) as the starter, saving Hackett for another 'Wunder' win at home, perhaps?
But, alas, Hackett got the nod, and managed to let in 4 goals in a period and a half, three in 2., almost back to back.
Now, while the Rampage got 4 goals, the Aeros managed to start (or play along) with 4 fights! And the crowd was on its feet for those....
Bagnall bagged HIS man, sans jersey, even!
Kassian lost to Neilson (did he slip and fall or?).
Prosser/Kearns |
The final one was McMillan and Weston (again) which sent them both out of the arena, since it was already less than 5 minutes to the end of the third.
Jotted down some impressions:
Hackett often seems to go down prematurely.
And when going down did not put pads together flush with ice and tightly -
at least one puck sailed right through that triangle into the net! OOPS!
Another sailed over his shoulder.. you might see that one in a snap taken.
So he gets pulled!
Josh Tordjman, in red hot pads.. stopped every single sog by the rampaging Rampage.. a perfect 12 out of 12.
Tordjman in motion! |
The teams went almost even on SOG 25 for the Rampage, 24 for the Aeros.
To the Aeros account, they handled a 3 on 5 and a 4 on 5 penalty kill with aplomb, but could not utilize their 5 PP opportunities at all (too much pretty passing, too little 'firing').
Only the 2. goal (1. in 2nd period) by Watkins was a PP goal.
On the 4th goal by Boedker, Climie claimed an assist...
see picture when he tells the official.
Mezzo soprano Tynan Davis (her brother participated in the Olympics) managed the anthem with suaveness.
Even to having those high notes under control-
huge applause by the large crowd of almost 7,000.
Amazingly, too, both presentations by tenor William Chapman, of the already mentioned Nessun Dorma (Turandot by Puccini) and later La Donna e Mobile (Woman is fickle) from Verdi's Rigoletto,
here sung by
garnered bravos and loud applause. The audience also seemed to enjoy the video clips of certain opera excerpts from Carmen among others (and the handsome face of Placido Domingo) to orchestral sounds only, however.. most of which seemed to be fight scenes from operas!
Amusingly presagely appropos... given the 4 fights!
Tordjman was ON, alas, but so was Climie on the other side.
It might have been a battle of giants IF Tordjman had faced Climie from the start. Would it have made it an Aeros win?
I don't feel it would.
Checking watch? Texting? Keeping his cool under pressure? |
Hackett lets that one in |
The Stork Moment.. looking for the puck |
McLean still has the puck behind the net |
Hey man, that 4th goal was due to MY assist |
A titanic save by Climie |
Excited Crowd |
Is this a 'Pontius Pilate' moment- washing our hands of you guys? |
Goal: puck over Hackett's left shoulder |
Another goal? No, that one was stopped |
Hey, it's behind you! Grope for it. |
Goalie interference |
Red Hot Pads |
Kassian sits and a Rampage fan comments :-)! |

A great set of photos, in particular, the one displaying the puck at the rear of Hackett's net, for an otherwise suffocating game (live on the AHL network).
One thinks that Fred Trask has become your mentor, by reference to situation-selection of your photos.
All the best to Fred Trask and you keep up the good work!
Looking forward to your report on tonight's game.
Go Aeros!
Great stuff ... I wish you could have gotten this shots of Hackett hacking his stick up against the boards in front of the bench.
@ICEVET.. thanks for reading and commenting.
