A Birthday Goal for McIntyre

A ballet by Hackett
McIntyre, in honor of his Birthday - no doubt, scored the First goal vs. the Monsters, almost single handedly..Broda's assist was added a bit later.
Then the Monstrous (8 over 6.3 ft tall guys) Monsters scored in rapid succession - three in the 1. 1 in the 2... while peppering Hackett with18 SoGs. But our 'third period' Aeros came bouncing back a bit with a PP goal by Genoway with Fontaine, Stretch at almost last minutes of the 2. And in the 3. two more goals by Taffe (maybe his dry spell is over now?), Reed (an other newcomer-for the 2nd time, methinks) and Rau, and Foucault with Stretch (he seems to work out rather well!) and Radja.
Mcintyre on defense
Coleman saves
Coleman a monster goalie at 6.5 and 215 pds and
Hacket at 6.2 but much thinner at 176 pds, seemed about equal in talent.
On Hackett 4 of 25. In the SO he stopped  all 4.
Aggression by Genoway
Fontaine Nr. 1 Star
On Coleman 4 of 34.  Coleman stopped 3 in SO but let in 2 by Fontaine and Stretch (again -he is 'stretching' towards a permanent position for the rest of the season, maybe?).
Something struck me tonight:
most of the guys scoring points were under 6Ft... Rau, Fontaine, Genoway, Stretch for the Aeros and Mauldin, Mercier and Strong for the Monsters.
Mauldin tries again!
Force Foucault ;-)!
In the end after 4-4 in regulation - one was pushed in by Hackett-really! No goals in Ot and Aeros 'shot out' the Lake Erie Monster, to add points.

BTW
Wellman had an assist with the Whale!
And the Wild lost to Dallas in a Shoot out.. alas.

Let's misbehave...... Wild News as well ;-)!

...so you think writing or singing about sex is a new thing?
Think again.
Go back to the 1930's and '40's and listen, really listen, to some Cole Porter songs!
Well, yes, the hints are somewhat veiled, but with some imagination you, too, can hear this.

Who in the heck is Cole Porter, you ask...
He was  born on 9 June 1891 in Peru, Indiana and died on 15 October 1964 .
Being very well off he traveled to Europe where he rented the
Ca Rezonnico in Venice. Later moved to Paris where he entertained lavishly. After a horrible riding accident he was often in pain, but continued to write and compose his amusing and often tongue-in-cheek songs such as 'DuBarry was a Lady'

Best known as the Broadway master who wrote "Night and Day", "Kiss me Kate" among others,
he was also known for his catalogue songs and songs which extolled  "THINGs" ;-)!

And "I get a kick out of you" with a verse like this
Some get a kick from cocaine
(in the Sinatra recording below it was changed to perfume form Spain !!!)

I'm sure that if
I took even one sniff
That would bore me terrifically, too
(and just listen to how he sings the terrifically  ;-)!!)

Yet, I get a kick out of you...

And this,  a somewhat modern version "Let's misbehave"..

And one of my faves.. a great tune to dance to: Begin the Beguine!

Many singers chose to sing his songs, from Irene Bordoni, Ethel Merman, and especially Ella Fitzgerald, Lena  Horne. Eartha Kitt,  to Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, etc, and even opera singers like Shirley Verrett, Katherine Grayson, Eleanor Steeber, Thomas Hampson and others. That to me speaks of a real appreciation of Porter's talent in melding words to music that is pleasant to the ear  of the listener and lies beautifully on the voice for the interpreters.
KD Lang's interpretation of "Love for Sale"
Of course, we need not forget the many bands that played his tunes - here are some noted ones
PAUL WHITEMAN & HIS ORCHESTRA - I Get A Kick Out Of You
RAY NOBLE & HIS ORCHESTRA - Experiment
XAVIER CUGAT & HIS WALDORF-ASTORIA ORCHESTRA - Begin The Beguine
GUY LOMBARDO - Ridin' High
TOMMY DORSEY & HIS ORCHESTRA - Who Knows
WOODY HERMAN - Do I Love You
BOB CROSBY & HIS ORCHESTRA - I've Got My Eyes On You
LES BROWN & HIS ORCHESTRA - Let's Be Buddies
GLENN MILLER & HIS ORCHESTRA - Fresh As A Daisy
I DO hope that YOU enjoyed this foray into melodious harmonies!

Loose Moose loose 2-5

Well, that just about describes the game. Manitoba just didn't quite have it to win.
To fans of former Aeros "Rosy" (Marco Rosa) I can report that he now proudly displays the A, still has his eye/hand coordination to get successful face offs and continues to aim his slapshot at the net-alas only AT, not into, at least tonight.

Chupp in Ferris State U Sweater
Richard Bachman has turned into a quite good goalie, an able heir to Climie (just saying).

And guess what: Wathier, supposedly recalled to Dallas, was present enough to put the first puck into the net tended by Tyler Weiman, who had a couple good saves (Stars 23 SoG) but also let in 4, the Nr 5 goal was an empty netter. His assists were Roman, Fortunas. And the Nr. 26 (no not that one) but Cody Chupp with Gazdic and Sean Backman (the Right Winger) got goal  Nr. 2 in the 2nd.
BTW Cody Chupp at 25, signed an ATO with the TexasStars at last season's end, the way he has played thus far ain't too shabby for an amateur ( LOL) - of course he is now under a regular contract.

That goal was followed by Nr. 3 by Sean Backman with Spang and Wathier. Both goals by Chupp and Backman eerily reminded me of the sneaky approach from behind the net around the post and in under the pads of Weiman,(sort of a Kolanos/Locke type of goal?) Weiman, as far as I could judge, could not have stopped these 2 goals, not even if he'd stood on his head, sprawled completely flat and wiggled every arm and leg - which he did not do, of course :-)!. Goal 4 unassisted by Sawada, and the empty netter by Rallo clinched the game.

The lonely goals by the Moose came in the 1. Cody  Hodgson with Bill Sweatt and Tanev, and the 2. by Oberg with Valpatti and Shirokov in 2. period. Only six players from last year were kept on, the Headcoach went to the Nhl. And with the Brothers Sweatt it seems like a family run operation...;-).
Bill, the younger Sweatt has more points than his older brother Lee, while Lee leads in PIMS (lol-defending the family honor?).
Teams seemed of even energy, although the Stars showed up better in offense, while the Moose lacked decisive defense..lots of turn overs. Good forechecking by the Stars, especially in the second. Jon McIsaac, the sole referee, let the game be played, just 2 PP for each with no goals. Thus the game went swiftly to its conclusion.
Happy Stars left victorious.
Loose Moose lost.
A few more photos manana!
